Tesla's Next-Gen Roadster: A Joint Venture with SpaceX, Reveals Elon Musk
What will the Roadster look like in 2024?
🏎️💨 Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently provided several significant updates regarding the next-generation Roadster. Musk announced that Tesla aims to unveil the forthcoming all-electric supercar later this year, revealing intriguing details about the vehicle. Notably, the new Roadster will be a collaborative effort between Musk's two flagship companies, Tesla and SpaceX.
🔋Despite its initial unveiling alongside the Tesla Semi in late 2017 with a projected availability date of 2020, the release of the next-generation Roadster has been repeatedly delayed. However, with the Cybertruck now in production and Tesla focusing on its next-generation platform, it seems that the company is finally prioritizing the release of the new Roadster.
Throughout the years, Musk's statements about the vehicle have become increasingly ambitious. He has suggested that the supercar may have the capability to perform short "hops" by incorporating rocket technology from SpaceX into a dedicated package for the car.
Recent tweets from Musk regarding the new Roadster indicate that the CEO remains committed to his ambitious vision for Tesla's flagship vehicle. Musk revealed that Tesla has significantly elevated the design aspirations for the next-generation Roadster. Furthermore, he emphasised that the vehicle, born from a collaboration between Tesla and SpaceX, defies conventional categorisation as a mere car. According to Musk, there will never be another vehicle quite like the new Roadster.

In subsequent posts, Musk hinted that the planned unveiling of the new Tesla Roadster could potentially be an unprecedented and awe-inspiring product demonstration. Maintaining the notion of incorporating rocket technology into the Roadster, Musk playfully responded to a Tesla enthusiast's comment suggesting that the EV maker is essentially creating a rocket on wheels. Similarly, when asked if the new Roadster would have the capability to fly to some extent, Musk responded in a tongue-in-cheek manner.
Although Elon Musk's recent updates regarding the new Tesla Roadster might be perceived as the usual overly optimistic statements from the CEO, it's important to consider Tesla's recent success with the Cybertruck. Despite initial skepticism and criticism suggesting it would never come to fruition, Tesla has successfully brought the Cybertruck into production and is now delivering it to customers. Given Tesla's track record of delivering innovative and unconventional vehicles like the Cybertruck, it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect that they could also deliver on the new Roadster.
